I create music that thrives on narratives, blending acoustical and visual elements to craft what has been described as “sound scenography” or “sonic theatre.” My work is often a fusion of music, theatre, and multimedia, weaving storytelling with instrumental, electronic, and visual artistry.
Some of my compositions lean into theatrical experimentation, such as the miniature opera Mirror, mirror on the wall, where musicians are equally actors, or Gluttony, which embraces a style of instrumental theatre. My larger-scale projects extend further into interdisciplinary collaboration, combining music with dance, theatre, puppetry, video, and design. Examples include the shadow puppetry production Music Impossible, and the multimedia music-theatre performance Sisyphus Distressing.
Collaboration has always been at the heart of my artistic process. Recent projects have seen me working closely with theatre and dance artists, as well as visual designers, to create immersive experiences where music is an integral part of a broader narrative. These include projects incorporating electronic music and multimedia installations that explore the intersections of sound and other art forms.
Notable performances of my compositions for concerts include Fear (not) by ensemble WienBerlin at the Wiener Konzerthaus, The Black Art of Obscurantism performed by Olly Coates (commissioned by the London Sinfonietta), the opera The Darkness of Mistico staged at the Greek National Opera, and the video-infused Sisyphus Victimised, premiered by the London Symphony Orchestra.
I co-founded and direct the Metapraxis Ensemble with Myrto Loulaki, curating interdisciplinary events and performances where older and new music coexist alongside other creative disciplines. Beyond presenting my own work, I curate projects that bring together living composers, writers, visual artists, and designers, creating platforms for innovative and collaborative artistic expression.
Education has also been a significant part of my practice. I’ve initiated projects such as [MUSIC:BUILDING], a creative composition program combining music-making with architecture, and #MUSICMAY2020, a series of online music activities for all ages delivered during the national lockdown.
